Gili Turtle Conservation

The Gili Turtle Conservation project is a vital initiative dedicated to protecting the endangered sea turtle populations around the Gili Islands. This community-based conservation program focuses on rescue, rehabilitation, and education to ensure the survival of these magnificent marine creatures for future generations.

The conservation center operates turtle hatcheries where eggs are safely incubated and baby turtles are raised until they're strong enough to be released into the ocean. Visitors can learn about the different turtle species found in Indonesian waters, including Green Turtles, Hawksbill Turtles, and Olive Ridley Turtles, and understand the threats they face from pollution, fishing nets, and habitat destruction.

The center offers educational programs where visitors can participate in turtle releases, learn about marine conservation, and understand how tourism can support conservation efforts. The project also works with local communities to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable fishing practices that protect turtle habitats.
